Sears Launches Home Service Market

Sears Holding Corp. (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) has launched SearsHomeServices.com, a new online platform for customers to find technicians certified by Sears for in-home repairs. The site also contains do-it-yourself guides and ratings for technicians, including cost and the length of time repairs take.

Retailing Today reports the service allows customers to schedule appointments with technicians online and receive confirmations via text.

While Amazon.com Inc. (Seattle) and Google Inc. (Menlo Park, Calif.) already offer similar marketplaces for technicians, Sears’ service will reportedly differ in its certification of technicians to ensure customers are matched with professionals who are trained to service appliances and products sold by Sears.
