Second Andaz Hotel Opens in NY

Andaz, Hyatt’s fledgling upscale hotel brand for business travelers, has opened its second locale in New York. The hotel is at 485 Fifth Ave., in a building that once housed the largest and last of the Rogers, Peet & Co. department stores, and in more recent years, Tommy Hilfiger’s global headquarters.

The first full New York City hotel by designer Tony Chi, the Andaz Fifth Avenue’s guest rooms feature a muted palette, exposed pipe ceilings, factory-sash windows, open kitchens and residential-style furniture. In all, the hotel has 184 rooms, including 36 suites (six of which have terraces overlooking the façade of the New York Public Library).

The flag’s first New York locale, the 253-room Andaz Wall Street, opened earlier this year and was designed by Rockwell Group.
