Second EuroShop / Japan Shop Design Award Competition Announced

Messe Düsseldorf and Nihon Keizai Shimbun will jointly organize the “EuroShop // JAPAN SHOP Shop Design Award” contest under the auspices of the German Embassy Tokyo, the Japanese Consulate General Düsseldorf and the EHI Retail Institute. Numerous Japanese associations from the design sector will support the project.

This competition will honor outstanding Japanese store designs which make reference to the country’s traditions and reflect the essence of all things Japanese. An international jury headed by Professor Hiroshi KASHIWAGI (Professor at the Musashino Art University and curator of the exhibition “Wa – the Spirit of Harmony” at the red dot design Museum in 2009) will select the winners in the categories “General Competition (Realized Projects)” and “Design Ideas”. The winners will present their designs early next year at EuroShop, the leading international trade fair for retail, held in Düsseldorf, Germany from February 16 – 20, 2104, and at JAPAN SHOP, to take place in Tokyo from March 4 – 7, 2014.

When organized for the first time on the occasion of EuroShop 2011, the design competition already received 174 entries for the “Realized Projects” category and 57 for the category “Design Ideas and Proposals”.

Entries for the 2nd “EuroShop // JAPAN SHOP Shop Design Award” can be submitted between July 1 and August 31, 2013 to Messe Düsseldorf’s Japan office in Tokyo at www.messe-dus.co.jp.
