Home improvement chain Lowe’s Companies Inc. (Mooresville, N.C.) has announced a partnership with the Microsoft Corporation (Redmond, Wash.) to utilize augmented reality programs in select stores. The Seattle area will pilot the program using Microsoft’s HoloLens technology for kitchen redesigns.
Ubergizmo reports that the technology will allow customers to experience a variety of options for cabinetry, countertops, appliances, and more in an interactive way. The HoloLens technology will give a holographic representation of customized kitchens.
Lowe’s plans to expand the program after the Seattle pilot. The next location slated for the rollout is Raleigh North Carolina.
