Shawmut the Money

Shawmut Design & Construction (Boston) has opened a new Retail Division headquarters office in New York.

The firm, which has been doing an increasing amount of luxury retailing work, has settled in at 3 E. 54th St., in the heart of the city's busiest luxury retail shopping area.

“Many leading luxury brands start off with a flagship location in New York City,” said Les Hiscoe, the division's vp. “As a top national firm, we work with clients on flagships, but also to build upon that image and success with new stores and concepts throughout the country.”

Shawmut Retail has built a portfolio of top fashion, jewelry, luxury clothing and other specialty flagship construction in all of the exclusive American shopping districts from New York to Palm Beach, Chicago's Miracle Mile to Rodeo Drive and Boston's Newbury Street. On New York's Fifth Avenue, Shawmut created Louis Vuitton's interior space behind an 11-story wall of custom-patterned glass. Around the corner on 57th Street, Chanel's flagship boutique was built on an aggressive schedule. And today, Shawmut is building its 54th store for Apple, a premier Fifth Avenue flagship.

Outside of New York, Shawmut has built Puma's new Pittsburgh location and a renovation of Shreve, Crump & Lowe's Boston flagship store.
