Sittin' in Britain

Ethan Allen Inc. (Danbury, Conn.), the proprietor of more than 300 home furnishings stores in North America, has opened its first European store, in Kingston, U.K. It's the first of five set to open in Europe.

The Kingston store's design is similar to that of Ethan Allen's U.S. showrooms, showcasing casual collections on the main floor and classic, more-formal styles on the lower level. As in the U.S., there are room vignettes to illustrate how collections look in room settings. Customers also have the option of free interior design service either at the store or at home with an Ethan Allen design consultant.

“Ethan Allen continues to expand and strengthen its business both domestically and overseas,” said chairman and ceo Farooq Kathwari.
