Six Retail Ceos Among Forbes’ Most Powerful Women

Six retail executives are among women on Forbes’ recent list, The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women, the National Retail Federation reports. They include Sheri McCoy, ceo, Avon; Angela Ahrendts, ceo, Burberry; Rosalind Brewer, president and ceo, Sam’s Club and Walmart Stores; Carol Meyrowitz, ceo, TJX Co.; Jan Fields, president, McDonald’s USA; and Mindy Grossman, ceo, HSN.

Metrics used to select the women include their money, media coverage and impact. Financially, Forbes took into account each woman’s company’s revenue and market value as well as her salary, country’s GDP, net worth and nonprofit or NGO spending. Media coverage was determined by news hits in the Factiva database, television and radio appearances and social media impact. Influence was measured by analyzing women’s reach “across industries, cultures and countries,” according to the magazine.
