Skyvue Project Takes Off in Las Vegas

Development on Skyvue Las Vegas has begun with the site clearing of the 11-acre property at Las Vegas Boulevard and Mandalay Bay Road.

The mixed-use complex will feature 200,000 square feet of restaurant, retail and entertainment venues, as well as a giant wheel observation deck and roller coaster. The complex is expected to be completed in early 2013.

The land currently houses a 1950s-era motel, which will be demolished. Led by Las Vegas developer Howard Bulloch of Compass Investments, the project is estimated to be in excess of $100 million. “We are truly pleased that Skyvue Las Vegas will complement both the hospitality and entertainment industries,” says Bulloch. “This world-class attraction offers a new and unique entertainment for tourists.”

More than 140,000 square feet of street-level retail will be adjoined to Skyvue Las Vegas, bringing a new retail attraction to the city. The 500-foot Super Wheel, larger than the world-famous London Eye, will have 40 heated and air-conditioned passenger gondolas that will each hold 20-25 passengers and will be available for private catered parties with food, entertainment and cocktail service.

The exterior of the adjoining complex will display more than 30,000 square feet of LED lighting and video. The wheel itself will showcase more than a football field’s worth of video display on either side.
