Sports Authority Closing Stores, Headquarters

Sports Authority (Englewood, Colo.) is in the process of closing its 460 remaining stores, as well as its headquarters.

Those 460 stores are currently being liquidated and should be completely closed by the end of August, reports USA Today.

The headquarters will shut down June 3, and 461 corporate employees — from merchandise managers and graphic designers to buyers and vp-level executives — will lose their positions within the company, reports The Denver Post.

The retailer had hoped it would find a buyer to maintain the business and keep stores open and staff employed.
