Sports Authority Closing Stores

Sports Authority (Englewood, Colo.) has plans to close at least 140 stores nationwide over the next three months, which is about 30 percent of the company’s total store count. The company has not disclosed which locations are expected to close, but the amount could balloon to as many as 250 of its 450 stores, reports Retail Dive.

This comes after recent reports that the company is in talks with lenders on a deal to reorganize that would keep it from declaring bankruptcy and laid off more than 100 corporate employees earlier this month. It also reportedly missed a $21-million interest payment last month.
