Sports Authority Names Darrell Webb Interim Ceo … And More Industry News

MANAGEMENT CHANGES

Sporting Goods retailer Sports Authority (Englewood, Colo.) named Darrell Webb interim ceo of the company, following the resignation of David Campisi. Webb currently serves as the chairman and ceo of fabric and craft specialty retailer Jo-Ann Stores Inc. Jo-Ann Stores promoted Travis Smith to ceo. Both brands are owned by Leonard Green & Partners L.P.

Meyda Lighting (Yorkville, N.Y.), manufacturer and designer of custom lighting and decor, appointed Max Cohen to New England area sales manager. He will serve Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.

Lighting manufacturer Hera Lighting (Norcross, Ga.) promoted Stephanie Pearce to inside sales representative for national accounts.

Fixture manufacturer Stylmark Inc. (Minneapolis) promoted Cathi Bullis to chief financial officer. In addition to her new role, she will join Stylmark’s board of directors as the first female director in company history.

STORE OPENINGS

The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company Inc. (Montvale, N.J.) opened a 51,000-square-foot Superfresh store in Philadelphia’s Northern Liberties neighborhood. The location features in-store sushi, salad and wing bars and a full-service pharmacy.

Convenience store chain Sheetz Inc. (Altoona, Pa.) opened a 6500-square-foot store in Parma, Ohio.

BUSINESS BRIEFS

Visplay Inc. (Allentown, Pa.), supplier of modular systems for retail and service interiors, is opening a 240-square-foot New York showroom next month. The showroom will be located at 29 Ninth Avenue, between 13 and 14 streets.

Lighting manufacturer and supplier Bulbrite (Moonachie, N.J.) celebrated its 40th anniversary.

Architecture and interior design firm Mancini•Duffy (New York) has acquired certain assets of New York-based interior design firm TSC Design. TSC owner William Sotomayor will become a principal and member of Mancini•Duffy’s board of directors and management committee.

Display manufacturer Holman Exhibits (Toronto) won the Samsung Electronics Canada in-store retail display marketing program for Future Shop and Best Buy stores across Canada. Featuring a touchscreen device, which simulated the Samsung Galaxy Tab, the displays were rolled out to 150 Future Shops and 78 Best Buy locations across Canada.

Santa Monica, Calif.-based Schréder Lighting US’s Alura LED family of outdoor energy-efficient luminaires received a Gold ADEX Award for Design Excellence.
