Subway says its fortunes continue to improve and that it plans to keep renovating and expanding its operations. The quick-service restaurant brand disclosed those plans in its year-end 2022 results, which exceeded its global sales projections and resulted in eight consecutive quarters of positive sales.
As for the coming year, the sandwich-centered chain said it plans to focus on “smart growth” by taking such steps as undertaking remodels at an additional 3600 locations across North America. Internationally, its plans involve building on the more than 5300 future restaurant commitments from recent master franchise and development agreements.
“As part of our journey to transform the brand, we are improving across every aspect of our business and, after two years of record sales results, we can confidently say that Subway is getting its swagger back,” CEO John Chidsey said in a news release. “Across every region, the team’s efforts have set the stage for another year of strategic and profitable growth and exciting enhancements to our guest experience.”
The chain currently operates nearly 37,000 restaurants across more than 100 countries.
