Sunglass Hut to Debut in India

Luxottica Group S.p.A. (Milan, Italy) has announced it is set to enter the Indian retail market with more than 100 Sunglass Hut stores at select high-end malls and other premium retail locations across the sub-continent, through a franchising agreement with real estate developer DLF Group (New Delhi). The first store will open in November.

“It is our intention to open two Sunglass Huts immediately in New Delhi with a view to develop the chain to 100 stores across the country,” said Kelvin Coyle, ceo of DLF Retail Brands Private Ltd.

Sunglass Hut recently opened the first two of its 15 expected new locations in Thailand. It has also opened stores in Hong Kong and the Middle East this year and will convert all of its 71 stores in South Africa to the Sunglass Hut format.

The DLF Group is the largest real estate company in India, with more than 224 million square feet of existing development and 755 million square feet of planned projects.
