Supervalu May Separate from Save-A-Lot

Supervalu Inc. (Minneapolis) has announced that it is preparing for a separation of its Save-A-Lot supermarket chain, according to a press statement. The company stated it continues to pursue a “spin-off” of Save-A-Lot but is also considering other alternatives which include evaluating the potential sale of the discount grocery chain.

Supervalu iterated in the statement that there can be no “assurance that a separation of Save-A-Lot will be completed,” or that any additional changes in the company’s business model or structure will occur.
