Supervalu Inc. (Eden Prairie, Minn.) has named Gerald Storch as its new chairman.

Storch, who will replace Robert Miller, was formerly ceo of Toys R Us Inc. (Wayne, N.J.).

Miller, who resigned earlier this week to “focus on other demands,” became Supervalu’s chairman in March 2013 after the company sold its largest grocery chains to an investor group led by Cerberus Capital Management LP (New York).

Earlier in his career, Storch was a vice chairman of Target Corp. (Minneapolis) at the time the mass merchandiser was entering the grocery business.
