Beard Papa, a Japanese chain known for its hot vanilla cream puffs, plans to open its first location on the West Coast at the Hollywood and Highland shopping and entertainment center this fall.

Beard Papa, a fictional character created as the brand image for the pastry chain, operates 260 stores, including locations in China, Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong. In 2004, Muginoho Inc., the parent company of Beard Papa, opened its first U.S. location in New York. The company also has a store in Paramus, N.J., and plans to open more U.S. locations within the next two years.
