Syms Hires Chief Integration Officer

Syms (Secaucus, N.J.) has hired Joel Feigenbaum, who has worked for Reader's Digest and Century 21, as chief integration officer, responsible for the Filene's Basement division and transitioning stores to the co-branded format.

After acquiring Filene's Basement last year, the off-price retailer is focusing on co-branding its 50-location store fleet, comprising 25 Syms stores and 23 Filene's Basements. Two additional locations, in Fairfield, Conn., and Norwood, Mass., have been updated to the new Syms and Filene's Basement format.

“The co-branding raises the bar in off-price retailing,” says ceo Marcy Syms in a statement. “Taking the best of both brands has been receiving raves from consumers in both locations. More co-branded stores are on the drawing board for fall 2010.”

Syms recently announced that Mark Shulman, president of Filene's Basement for seven years, had left the company.
