Taco Cabana (San Antonio) will unveil its next-generation building prototype on June 14, in Spring, Texas. The prototype, on Houston’s far north side, features a sleek design spanning 2541 square feet, along with a 375-square-foot patio, Mexican-inspired restaurant chain says.
The prototype integrates a double-merging drive-though, a walk-up window and a dining area that pays homage to Taco Cabana’s heritage with a contemporary twist. The kitchen layout is engineered for peak efficiency and productivity, and allows guests to see the brand’s tortilla being made while also taking in the aroma of dishes unfolding on the flat top and chargrills.
The company says the new design was “crafted with franchising in mind.” A corporate profile on the chain that ran last fall in the San Antonio News-Express reported that Fremont, Calif.-based Yadav Enterprises Inc., which acquired Taco Cabana in 2021, was preparing a franchising program designed to help make the Texas brand a national name. (Yadav is a restaurant franchise company whose other brands include Jack in the Box, Denny’s TGI Fridays, El Pollo Loco, Sizzler and Corner Bakery.)
Taco Cabana operates almost 150 restaurants in Texas, with another seven in New Mexico owned by a franchisee, the newspaper noted.
