Taking a Gander at Chicago

Gander Mountain Co. (Bloomington, Minn.), proprietor of 55 outdoor gear stores in eight states, is reportedly ready to enter the Chicago market.

Crain's Chicago Business reports that the retailer of hunting and fishing gear is looking to lease a 100,000-square-foot space in Geneva, Ill. — west of Chicago — that used to be a Kmart location.

Opening is slated for spring 2003. And Crain's says the retailer is also looking for more sites in the metropolitan area.
