Target Announces New Store Design

Target (Minneapolis) announced its plans for a new store design that will debut later this year. A prototype store will open in a suburb outside of Houston this fall and insights gleaned from it will be rolled out to 600 stores by 2019.

The store will feature a variety of convenience-inspired options, such as an entrance geared toward shoppers looking to get in and out. Customers will be able to pick up online orders or grab food and beverages that are stocked nearby. There will be a second entrance that will feature merchandise displays of apparel and home goods.

“Expect lots of flexibility, open sight lines and discovery moments throughout the store,” the retailer’s CEO Brian Cornell said.

It will also include an outdoor sitting space, stenciled concrete floors, wood-paneled walls and beams, reports the Star Tribune.
