Target Hires Apple Exec

Target Corp. (Minneapolis) has hired Benjamin Cook, former Americas head of logistics and supply chain for Apple Inc. (Cupertino, Calif.).

Cook will serve as senior vice president of global logistics, inventory allocation and replenishment, for Target, according to MarketWatch.

Cook “will lead the optimization of Target's inbound and outbound supply chain processes, including carrier transportation and last-mile delivery,” in addition to overseeing inventory and merchandise planning, the company said Wednesday.

MarketWatch reports that inventory management is a key focus for Target because the retailer has struggled with out-of-stock items at its stores as online sales represent an increasing portion of its revenue.
