Target Overhauls its Cafes

Target (Minneapolis) is testing a new concept at 14 stores that will replace existing Target cafes with third-party restaurant-style offerings. They intend to provide customers with a larger array of higher-quality food than what is currently being offered in Target cafes.

Starting in October, nine stores will feature Freshii (Chicago) counters, three stores will offer Pizza Hut (Louisville, Ky.) menus with artisan-style pizza and two stores in Minneapolis will have a local Italian restaurant, D’Amico & Sons (Minneapolis), set up shop in-store.

The move, according to USA Today, is meant to show customers the store cares about health and wellness, while also making a better first impression when customers first enter stores.
