Target's Target

Target Stores announced that on Oct. 14, 2001, it will open 36 new stores in 21 states, including its first Maine store (in South Portland). Of the new stores, Target is opening nine SuperTarget stores throughout Colorado, Indiana, Louisiana, Minnesota and Texas, and multi-level stores in Abingdon Township, Pa.; Deerfield Beach, Fla.; the New York City borough of Queens; and its own headquarters city of Minneapolis. The chain currently operates 977 stores in 46 states.
