The 73rd location in the Chicago area of Jewel-Osco, the Melrose Park, Ill.-based grocery and drug supermarket chain, will be in the city's rehabilitating South Loop community. Ground was broken this morning. The 52,000-square-foot store will include a 12,000-square-foot mezzanine with expanded perishables, ready-to-eat, heat-to-eat, baked goods, deli, meat and seafoods departments, as well as a walk-in floral cooler and a beer-and-wine liquor department.
