Third-Generation Hudson Leaves Belk

Karl G. Hudson III, president of Belk's northern division, has resigned. Grandson of the Charlotte, N.C.-based department store chain's founder, Hudson said he would leave to pursue personal interests, including spending time with his family.

Hudson was promoted to president last year from executive vp and supervising partner, succeeding his father. Previously, he had served in several merchandising and management positions at the Savannah, Ga. Belk Stores. The company explained that last year's consolidation of 13 regional divisions to four might have influenced Hudson's decision.
