ThredUp Opens First Store

ThredUp (San Francisco) announced that it will has opened its first retail location. The used-clothing retailer has solely operated online until yesterday, when it opened its first store. It has plans to open four more stores by the end of the year.

Located in San Marcos, Texas, the store is located in the local Tanger Outlets (Greensboro, N.C.), which the retailer believes shares its target audience. It will stock about 16,000 items and will feature iPads throughout the store so that customers can access the complete ThredUp inventory. For instance, a customer can hold a shoe up to the iPad and it will search inventory for similar styles.

As each store opens, its inventory will be curated to match its demographics, so the next store that is slated to open, in a more affluent area outside of San Francisco, will stock more designer brands and handbags, reports Forbes.
