Tiffany & Co. Opens Second Virginia Store … And More Industry News

MANAGEMENT CHANGES

Architecture and design firm Callison (Seattle) has expanded the role of Leigh Dennis, managing director for Callison’s European practice, to oversee the firm’s New York and London offices.

Carol VanderKloot joined Los Angeles-based advertising and public relations firm DRS as senior account manager. Working in New York, she will work with clients including THG, Corbett Lighting and Hudson Valley Lighting.

Omaha, Neb.-based department store chain Gordmans named Andy Lundquist vp of stores. As a 20-year retail veteran, Lundquist most recently served as senior vp of stores for Kohl’s Co.

Invista (Kennesaw, Ga.), manufacturer of Antron carpet fiber, appointed Todd van der Kruik innovation manager for commercial flooring. He will lead global product development and merchandising efforts for the Antron brand.

STORE OPENING

New York-based Tiffany & Co. opened a 2500-square-foot jewelry store in Stony Point Fashion Park, in Richmond, Va., the company’s second store in Virginia. The new store features many architectural elements of Tiffany’s famous flagship store on New York’s Fifth Avenue, including a wheat-leaf pattern in brushed stainless steel.

BUSINESS BRIEFS

Entries are now being accepted for the 41st annual Association of Retail Environments (A.R.E.) Design Awards. A.R.E. is accepting submissions in 16 store and shop categories, plus seven add-ons. Enter by the early bird deadline, Dec. 1, 2011, and receive a discount. The final deadline is Dec. 15, 2011. Wood merchandising fixture manufacturer JSI Store Fixtures (Milo, Maine) completed the acquisition of Buford, Ga.-based KMP Fixtures, a fixture supplier to the retail equipment industry.

Walker, Mich.-based Pipp Mobile Storage Systems Inc., supplier of mobile storage solutions, acquired the International Retail Services Group (IRSG) division of Columbus, Ohio-based Capsa Solutions LLC, which manufactures and distributes floor systems.

Food retail lighting manufacturer Nualight (Cork, Ireland) completed the acquisition of LED accent lighting company Lumoluce (Heerhugowaard, The Netherlands). With the acquisition, Nualight now offers full-store LED lighting solutions to food retail customers.

Santa Monica, Calif.-based Schréder Lighting US received a Platinum ADEX Award for Design Excellence for its NEMO Column, which is equipped with 18 high-power RGB and white LEDs controlled by Dali protocol.

Garden City, N.Y.-based lighting manufacturer WAC Lighting received an ISO–14001 Certification for its effective environmental management system of designing and producing luminaires and components. The company operates a wholly-owned manufacturing campus with zero landfill status, recycling capabilities and in-house UL authorized labs.
