Tommy Hilfiger Opens in South Beach

Tommy Hilfiger Corp. (Kowloon, Hong Kong) has opened its first store in Miami Beach, on Collins Avenue in the heart of the city’s South Beach neighborhood. The 4453-square-foot space is the company's ninth freestanding Tommy Hilfiger retail space in the U.S., the second in South Florida. The designer opened in Miami’s Aventura Mall in June.

The two-story, freestanding South Beach store's exterior features a white-trimmed, light blue facade while incorporating characteristics of South Beach's historic art deco design. Jasmine plants cascade from the rooftop. The interior reflects a mix of modern design and mid-century furnishings incorporating both city and shore style elements. The front porch recreates the feel of a quintessential Florida room, complete with ceiling fans and orchids. In the center of the store is a 14-foot cylindrical fish tank, surrounded by a mirror and white marble countertop. The floors are a mix of whitewashed oak and white resin. Mid-century lighting, tented macramé fitting rooms and vintage nickel shelving are some of the details that capture the “city and shore” design concept.

The South Beach store also has a 700-square-foot surf shop in the back courtyard, featuring men's and women's swim collections, graphic tees, vintage surfboards and swim accessories.

“Miami is an energetic and international city, as well as the gateway to the Americas,” said Hilfiger, “and Florida has been one of my best markets. [This store] was designed to become more indigenous to the area — carefree, easy, eclectic, casually chic.”
