Tommy Hilfiger Plans Asia Flagship

The Tommy Hilfiger Group (New York), a wholly owned by Phillips-Van Heusen Corp., is planning to open its largest flagship store in Japan and Asia in Tokyo. Scheduled to open in March 2012, the store on Omotesando in Harajuku will join a mix of upscale retailers in one of Japan's most renowned shopping districts.

“This store will serve as the primary flagship location for our brand in Japan and will further support our significant retail business in Asia,” says Fred Gehring, ceo, Tommy Hilfiger Group. “Following the Group's acquisition of the Tommy Hilfiger Japan Corporation in 2008, we have continued to develop the existing business by strategically aligning the Tommy Hilfiger brand's regional positioning with its global identity. The Harajuku store reflects our firm belief in the potential for future growth in Japan and is the first in a series of steps to increase our presence in the market.”

The 10,946-square-foot location will span three floors and house the latest men's and women's sportswear, runway and Hilfiger Denim collections.

The company operates 108 stores in Japan.
