Gap Inc. (San Francisco) announced that Tracy Gardner is coming back to the retailer, working at Gap’s Global Creative Center in New York. She will work with Pam Wallack, executive vp, and the Global Creative Center team to assist efforts to improve the brand’s product and help turn around the retailer’s sagging women’s business, reports Women’s Wear Daily.

Gardner’s career includes serving as vp of women’s merchandising at Gap Inc.’s Banana Republic division from 1998 to 2000 and leading Gap Adult Merchandising from 2001 to 2004. She was president of J. Crew Group from 2004 to 2010 and currently serves as a partner and member of the board at StyleOwner, a social selling web site for bloggers, stylists and fashionistas.
