Trio of Top Execs Exit Zale

Zale Corp. (Dallas) announced that three top-level executives — ceo Neal Goldberg, chief stores officer William Acevedo and chief merchandising officer Mary Kwan — have left the company. In addition, the operator of 1900 jewelry stores has named president Theo Killion interim ceo and given executive vice president Gil Hollander the added role of chief merchandising officer.

In a press release, Zale chairman John Lowe said, “Our board is determined to do all in its power to put in place effective leadership to help return the company to profitability. At the same time, these management changes will help facilitate renewed focus on Zale's core diamond business. We are fortunate to have executives with Theo Killion's and Gil Hollander's experience to assume greater leadership responsibilities as we refocus on our core strengths.”

Zale operates stores under the Zales Jewelers, Zales Outlet, Gordon's Jewelers, Peoples Jewellers, Mappins Jewellers and Piercing Pagoda flags.
