Triple Five Announces Miami Project

While new construction of shopping malls has been on the downswing in the U.S., Triple Five Group (Edmonton, Alberta), which owns Mall of America (Minneapolis), announced plans to construct the nation's largest shopping mall in southern Florida, eclipsing its 4.2 million-square-foot Mall of America.

According to The Wall Street Journal, American Dream Miami will feature attractions similar to those found at MOA, including amusement park rides, a water park, cinemas and restaurants, as well as new attractions, including a ski slope, a submarine ride and a sea lion show. The company did not disclose the size of the project, but predicts it will cost about $4 billion.

Triple Five has identified land in an unincorporated part of Miami-Dade County, northwest of the city of Miami, for the project. American Dream Miami will also feature hotels, a concert venue and condominiums.
