Trocadero is a new retail/entertainment venue in Piccadilly Circus, London's answer to Times Square. RTKL Associates created a hypercharged, high-tech environment around the theme of an intergalactic transit station. The focal point of the space is a “rocket” escalator that transports visitors up through a 125-foot, 8-story atrium past a 108-screen wraparound video and multi-media columns that broadcast sound, light and lasers. The $70 million renovation includes spaces for Segaworld, theme restaurants such as Planet Hollywood and an HMV superstore.
