Continuing its expansion in the U.S., fast-fashion retailer Uniqlo (Tokyo) has announced the addition of three new stores, according to Women’s Wear Daily. They include a 13,000-square-foot unit in Seattle and a 10,000-square-foot store in Tysons Corner, Va.; both of which will open in the fall. A 22,000-square-foot unit in Denver will follow next spring.
As previously announced, one of the chain’s largest units will also open in the fall: A 60,000-square-foot flagship in Chicago. With 39 stores in major East and West Coast markets, the company hopes to raise brand awareness and drive traffic to Uniqlo’s electronic marketing platforms.
“We’re going to places where we can access new markets and give a showroom to people and [tourists] from different regions of the country so they can access us online,” said Larry Meyer, ceo, Uniqlo USA told WWD. “We’re setting up our expansion throughout the country.” Uniqlo founder, Tadashi Yanai, has stated the goal of $10 billion in U.S. sales and 1000 stores by 2020.
