Uniqlo Coming to Southern California

Uniqlo USA (New York) has confirmed rumors that it will enter the Southern California market this year.

Women’s Wear Daily, which first floated the rumor, reported that the Japan-based fast fashion retailer said it will go into South Coast Plaza (Costa Mesa, Calif.) and The Beverly Center (Los Angeles).

The Beverly Center is owned by Taubman Centers Inc. (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), which also owns Stamford (Conn.) Town Center and Sunvalley Mall (Concord, Calif.), where Uniqlo will open this spring.

“Our shoppers are going to love this brand,” said chief operating officer William Taubman.

Uniqlo had previously announced plans for spring and summer openings at King of Prussia (Pa.) Mall, Serramonte Center (Daly City, Calif.) and Great Mall of the Bay Area (Milpitas, Calif.).

Uniqlo currently has 17 stores in the U.S.
