VM+SD a Design Contest Finalist

VM+SD, which underwent a considerable redesign as of the October 2000 issue, has been selected as a finalist in Folio: Magazine's Ozzie Awards in the Best Redesign category. Winners will be announced October 30.

In entering the redesign in the contest, associate publisher Carole Winters cited the asymmetrical grid, more white space, new typefaces and more opportunities for large photos as well as detail shots. “As a trade publication for a specialized, design-savvy reader,” Winters wrote on the entry form, “we practiced what we preach: Good design is good business.”

VM+SD worked on the redesign with Gensler, the San Francisco-based architecture, design and planning firm. The actual design work came from Gensler's Washington, D.C., office.
