Von Maur Department Store (Davenport, Iowa) has unveiled plans to put most of its stores through an extensive, $100 million update over the next five years. That process will involve refurbishing its current stores using white and cream tones, mixed with warm woods, and modern lighting. The updated look will allow the merchandise to be the focus, the retailer said.
“As Von Maur has grown, new stores have evolved to reflect the trends present in residential design,” said President Jim von Maur. “It is important that we reinvest in our existing locations and bring those same updates to the customers that have been the bedrock of our success.”
Renovations are currently underway at Towne East Square (Wichita, Kan.); Jefferson Point Shopping Center (Fort Wayne, Ind.); Westroads Mall (Omaha, Neb,), Laurel Park Place (Livonia, Mich.), Oxmoor Center (Louisville, Ky.), Corbin Park (Overland Park, Kan.), and Hickory Point Mall (Forsyth, Ill.).
The renovation announcement comes on the heels of Von Maur’s previously announced plans for new locations at South Hills Village in Pittsburgh (fall 2024) and at West Acres Mall in Fargo, N.D. (spring 2025).
Von Maur was founded in 1872 in downtown Davenport and currently operates 37 stores in 15 mostly Midwestern states.
