Walgreens Close to Deal for 12 Eaton Apothecary Pharmacies

Walgreen Co. came one step closer to expanding its Boston area presence with the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire a dozen Eaton Apothecary pharmacies from D.A.W., Inc., a subsidiary of Nyer Medical Group, Inc. The transaction, valued at approximately $19 million, is expected to close within the next 90 days.

Walgreens plans to keep “most” of the pharmacies open and “intends for eligible employees at all 12 locations to join our team,” said David White, Walgreens market vice president for Boston. “Eaton’s customers should expect to see the familiar faces and services they know and trust while benefitting from Walgreens expanded product and service offering.”
