White Castle Tests Adding Alcohol to its Menu

White Castle System Inc. added wine and beer at its White Caste and barbeque brand Blaze Modern BBQ combination concept in Lafayette, Ind.

The tryout is part of a larger experiment with three other concepts the company has introduced within the year, including Blaze Modern BBQ, Asian brand Laughing Noodle in Springfield, Ohio, and a sandwich concept, Deckers, in Lebanon, Tenn.

“This was something that customers had been suggesting,” Jamie Richardson, a spokesman for Columbus, Ohio-based White Castle company, told the Associated Press.

Other fast-food restaurants have been adding alcohol to their menus. Burger King recently launched the Whopper Bar South Beach in Miami Beach, which offers beer. And Starbucks Corp. continues to test beer and wine at a few sites.
