White House|Black Market Opening in Canada

The White House|Black Market division of Chico’s FAS Inc. (Fort Myers, Fla.) will enter the Canadian market this fall with three new stores.

The scheduled openings for the specialty apparel retailer are October 24 in the Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto; October 29 at at Square One in Mississauga, Ont.; and November 12 in Upper Canada Mall, Newmarket, Ont.

“We believe Canada is a great first foray into the international arena for Chico’s FAS, as it represents a natural extension of our brands,” said president and ceo David Dyer. “From our robust customer file, we already know that there are a significant number of Chico’s FAS customers in Canada.”

The organization said it is also looking at Canadian expansion for its flagship Chico’s brand.

“We are currently exploring other international markets, but we have not landed on or announced anything beyond Canada at this point,” a Chico’s spokesperson told Women’s Wear Daily. “We do see continued growth in Canada for White House|Black Market. But no specific goal or cap on the number of doors beyond the three at this point.”

And, he said, “We are looking at expansion for the Chico’s brand into the Canadian market in 2014.”
