Celebrity hair stylist Garren has opened another of his signature salons in Manhattan’s historic Sherry Netherland Hotel. Completed by the Sausalito, Calif.-based Barriscale Design Studio, the salon features a sleek and bright white environment with splashes of lime, orange and soft metallics found in the furniture, textiles and materials palette. (The project was originally started when the firm’s principal Christopher Barriscale was with RYA Design Consultancy.)
Floors and counters are clad in custom-fabricated silver travertine stone for a neutral backdrop. Textures, such as hand-waxed plaster, sculptured white lacquered wood and floor-to-ceiling bronze screens, add a layered look.
For the main styling station a focal wall features a crystal curtain created by Italian crystal-maker Vistosi. The curtain is illuminated with indirect lighting, creating the illusion of a larger space. That effect is further enhanced by the room’s large mirrors and frosted glass light columns.
