Williams-Sonoma Inc. (San Francisco) reported net revenues increased 8.1 percent to $1.090 billion and same-store sales rose 7.6 percent for the fourth quarter ended January 31.
Among its chains, same-store sales were up 5.9 percent at Williams-Sonoma stores and 12 percent at both Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids.
“While our fourth quarter results were substantially better than we expected given the continuing fragility of the economy, in 2010 we will continue to garner the benefits of the strategic and tactical initiatives that drove our success in the fourth quarter,” says Howard Lester, chairman and ceo.
The housewares and home good retailer has forecast a first-quarter profit of eight to 11 cents a share, on revenue of $660 to $680 million, and a rise of 8 to 11 percent in comparable store sales.
