Zara Co. Sales Up in Europe

Inditex (Arteixo, Spain), the parent company of fashion retailer Zara, announced that its sales and profits rose in the first half of the year, with an 8 percent increase in net profits and total net sales up 11 percent. Comparable sales at stores open at least a year also increased 11 percent in all regions, with sales in Europe (excluding Spain) experiencing 43 percent sales growth. These numbers were better than expected.

According to The Guardian, growth is attributed to its emphasis on big flagship stores and online business. During that time span, the company added 83 new stores to its fleet and introduced its online business to 11 new markets.
