7-Eleven to Open 1100 Stores

Convenience chain 7-Eleven Inc. (Dallas) will add 1100 stores as part of a $3.3 billion deal.

7-Eleven’s owner, Seven & I Holdings (Tokyo), said it will purchase 1108 Sunoco stores in 18 states, reports the Dallas Business Journal. The deal brings total 7-Eleven stores to 9815 stores – very close to Seven & I Holdings’s goal of growing the chain to 10,000 locations by 2019.

“This acquisition supports our growth strategy in key geographic areas including Florida, mid-Atlantic states, Northeast state, and Central Texas," said 7-Eleven Inc. President and CEO Joe DePinto. “It also provides 7-Eleven entry into Houston, the fourth largest city in the United States, and a strong presence in Corpus Christi and South Texas."
