A Danish for New Yorkers

BoConcept, the Danish design company that makes and sells modern furniture, lighting and accessories, has announced plans for a new retail location in New York.

The 4600-square-foot store, set in a former Persian carpet store at Madison Avenue and 30th Street, will feature 17-foot ceilings and a central BoConcept workshop. The workshop offers shoppers a chance to virtually make over their rooms using the Furnish Lite 3-D graphics program, with which they can plot and decorate their home on a computer.

The burgeoning furniture neighborhood also includes such other destination interior design stores as Domus Design Center and Roche Bobois.

“This is a retail district that is evolving,” says co-proprietor Niki Cheng of the location. “It has a rich heritage, impressive landmarks within steps of our address, a great deal of natural foot traffic and is central for all Manhattanites looking for variety in their retail diets. It's a beautiful store in one of the best locations in the world!”

The retailer currently has locations in more than 23 countries around the world, including the United States, China, Costa Rica, Ecuador, France, Hungary, Ireland, New Zealand and Peru. It says it is in the process of opening approximately three to four stores per month in metropolitan areas around the globe.
