Alejandro Rhett Fired from J.Crew for Social Media Posts

Alejandro Rhett, vp of men’s merchandising for J.Crew Group (New York), was reportedly fired after posting photos to Instagram with hashtags that joked about recent company layoffs and referenced “The Hunger Games” book and film series.

Rhett personally delivered news of the layoffs to several members of his own team during J.Crew’s recent elimination of 175 employees.

Women’s Wear Daily reports that later that evening, Rhett and several employees were celebrating that they had not been fired at a local bar where the Instagram photos comparing the layoffs to “The Hunger Games” were taken.

J.Crew has not commented on the status of Rhett and other employees involved in the incident, but did issue a statement that the company does not take the layoffs lightly and does not condone the behavior.
