Ampex Brands Buys Au Bon Pain

Ampex Brands, owner of more than 400 Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and 7-Eleven stores in the U.S., has acquired Au Bon Pain, reports CNBC. The purchase was finalized yesterday.

“Our QSR brands performed extraordinarily well throughout the pandemic as guests moved to drive-thru,” Ampex CEO Tabbassum Mumtaz said in a statement. “That performance allowed us to diversify and jump on a great opportunity to reposition a legacy brand. The bakery café category will rebound, and Au Bon Pain is well-positioned to grow.”

Au Bon Pain operates 171 locations previously owned by ABP Corp. as well as 131 franchised stores.
