Apple Could Launch a Subscription Service for iPhones

Apple is working on a subscription service for the iPhone and other hardware products, a plan that could make owning a device like paying a monthly fee for an app, according to anonymous sources who spoke with Bloomberg.

The plan is Apple’s biggest push yet into generating recurring sales, the article says, and could “make it easier for consumers to stomach spending thousands of dollars on new devices.”

Sources who spoke with the outlet asked not to be identified because the initiative is still under development.
