Athleta Plans Virginia and Chicago Outlets

Athleta (San Francisco) will introduce two outlet locations to its fleet this year, according to a company press release.

One will open in Leesburg Premium Outlets this fall in Virginia, and the other will debut this summer at the Chicago Premium Outlets in Illinois. The Virginia outlet will boast more than 3300 square feet of space, and the Chicago location will be more than 3100 square feet.

“As part of our long-term strategic growth plan, Athleta is investing in new access points to reach new customers, deliver new value to customers who already know and love our brand, and expand our community of empowered women and girls,” Mary Beth Laughton, President and CEO of Athleta, says. “Our new outlet stores are intentionally designed to stand out from traditional outlet and clearance store models, helping drive new customer acquisition and increased brand awareness for Athleta.”

The retailer committed to open 30-40 new locations by the end of the 2022 fiscal year. Twelve stores have already been added this year in North America in locations like Salt Lake City; Cary, N.C.; Reno, Nev.; Chester, N.J., and others.
