Banana Republic Opens New York Flagship

Banana Republic (San Francisco) opened a new flagship on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan’s Flatiron neighborhood March 26.

The 27,892-square-foot flagship – with 14,338 square feet for selling – is the latest expression of the brand’s makeover, reports Women’s Wear Daily.

The store showcases both men’s and women’s styles, and replaces the separate men’s and women’s stores that had been on Fifth Avenue two blocks south, reports WWD. The entrance features a display of third-party vendors, and there’s a whimsical approach to the visual display throughout the space.

Although some of the merchandising and decorative elements could appear in existing or new stores, “the goal is to make each individual store feel unique,” said creative director Marissa Webb. “This is the beginning. Not the big ta-da.”
